Prep the Beans: Drain the soaked beans and set aside.

Simmer the Beans: Add the drained beans, salt, pepper, cayenne, bay leaves, chicken broth, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 2 hours, or until the beans are tender.
