Equipment

  • Grill or broiler
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Aluminum foil
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs of beef steak tips
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Marinate the Steak Tips: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Add the steak tips and toss to coat evenly. Wrap and place in the refrigerator for a minimum of two hours, ideally letting them marinate overnight.
  • Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill or broiler to a medium-high heat.
  • Grilling: Remove the steak tips from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Place the steak tips on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach the desired level of doneness.
  • Rest the Meat: Once cooked, transfer the steak tips to a plate and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Allow the meat to sit for 5-10 minutes after cooking to let the juices settle back throughout the steak.
  • Serve: Serve the steak tips hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Marination Time: For the best flavor, let the steak tips marinate overnight.
  • High Heat: Ensure the grill is hot before adding your steak tips to achieve a seared crust that locks in flavor.
  • Don't Overcrowd the Grill: Cook in batches to ensure each piece cooks evenly.
  • Resting Time: Allow the steak tips to rest before serving to keep them juicy.
  • Seasoning: Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the heat level according to your preference.
