Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs optional, for topping

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the macaroni by boiling it according to the directions on the packaging until it is al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta and set it aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour to your pan and allow it to cook until it starts to bubble, which should take about a minute.
  • Gradually add milk to the roux (butter and flour mixture), stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Lower the heat and add cheddar and Parmesan cheeses to the sauce, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Add the cooked chicken and macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring to combine.
  • If baking, transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs, and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  • Serve warm and enjoy your creamy, cheesy chicken mac and cheese.
