Ingredients
  

For Tofu:

  • 1 block extra-firm tofu pressed
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

For Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey or agave for vegan
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water slurry

Optional Garnish:

  • Chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • Press tofu for 20 minutes. Remove excess water.
  • Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes evenly.
  • Toss tofu with cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Fry tofu until golden and crispy on all sides.
  • Remove tofu and drain on paper towels.
  • In a saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients.
  • Bring sauce to simmer, stir until thickened.
  • Add tofu to sauce. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

  • Always press tofu to remove moisture.
  • Use extra-firm tofu for better crispiness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan when frying tofu.
  • Let the sauce simmer to thicken perfectly.
