Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Blender or food processor
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Storage jar or bottle

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cayenne pepper sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine Ingredients: In your blender or food processor, blend the cayenne pepper sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  • Cook: Pour the mixture into a saucepan and add butter. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the butter is completely melted and the sauce is uniform.
  • Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will help the flavors to meld together and intensify.
  • Cool and Store: Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Transfer it to a jar or bottle and refrigerate until needed.

Notes

  • Adjust the Heat: If you’re sensitive to spice, start with less cayenne pepper sauce and gradually add more to taste.
  • Sweet Balance: For a sweeter sauce, increase the brown sugar slightly. This can also help to balance the heat.
  • Storage: Keep the sauce refrigerated and use within 2 weeks for best flavor.
  • Serving Suggestion: Best served with fried or grilled chicken, but it also works great as a marinade.
  • Experiment: Don’t hesitate to add a personal touch, like a dash of lemon juice or a sprinkle of cumin, to suit your taste.
