Ingredients
  

For the crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For the caramel layer:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For the topping:

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans toasted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line pan with parchment paper.
  • Mix crust ingredients in a bowl.
  • Press crust into pan evenly.
  • Bake crust for 15 minutes.
  • In saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar.
  • Stir constantly until mixture boils.
  • Boil 3 minutes, then add cream.
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
  • Pour caramel over warm crust.
  • Sprinkle pecans on caramel layer.
  • Bake again for 15 minutes.
  • Remove and sprinkle chocolate chips.
  • Let chips melt, then spread evenly.
  • Cool in pan, then refrigerate.
  • Cut into bars and enjoy!
