Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup strawberry jam for filling
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line cupcake tray with liners.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light.
  • Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
  • Slowly add dry mix and milk. Alternate additions.
  • Blend until batter is smooth.
  • Fill liners two-thirds with batter.
  • Bake for 18 minutes.
  • Test with toothpick. Cool completely.
  • Cut small hole in center of each cupcake.
  • Fill with strawberry jam.
  • Whip cream and powdered sugar until fluffy.
  • Spread cream on cupcakes.
  • Use toothpick to poke two small holes.
  • Drip jam mixed with red food coloring.
  • Let drip down like vampire bite marks.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.

  • Use gel food coloring for deep red effect.
  • Do not overmix batter for fluffy cupcakes.
  • Use strawberry or raspberry jam for realistic blood.
