Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rubber spatula
  • Airtight container for storage

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 jalapeno peppers seeds removed
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1/4 cup cilantro packed
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 green onion chopped

Instructions

  • Start by washing your jalapenos, cilantro, and green onion under cold water.
  • In a blender or food processor, combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, jalapenos, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, salt, pepper, and cumin.
  • Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. You may need to stop occasionally to scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula.
  • Add the chopped green onion and pulse a few times to mix them into the sauce without pureeing them fully, allowing for small flecks of color and texture.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. For a thinner consistency, a tablespoon of water or additional lime juice can be blended in.
  • Transfer the sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld together beautifully.
