  • 1 carrot finely diced
  • 1 celery stick finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil chopped
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan.
  • Add onion, carrot, and celery.
  • Cook gently until soft.
  • Add garlic and stir briefly.
  • Add ground beef and brown well.
  • Stir in tomato paste evenly.
  • Add crushed tomatoes and herbs.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Simmer gently for forty minutes.
  • Cook spaghetti until al dente.
  • Drain pasta and reserve water.
  • Toss spaghetti with the sauce.
  • Add pasta water if needed.
  • Serve hot with parmesan.
