  • Non-stick skillet (about 10 inches)
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven mitts

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes peeled
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Using a mandoline slicer or sharp knife, slice the potatoes into very thin rounds.
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced potatoes with onions, garlic, melted butter, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the potato mixture in a circular pattern, overlapping each layer.
  • Sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan and thyme.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, or until the edges of the La Madeleine Potato Galette are golden brown and crispy.
  • Take the dish out of the oven and allow it to cool briefly before cutting into it.

Notes

  • Cheesy Delight: Add layers of Gruyère between the potatoes for a melt-in-your-mouth experience.
  • Herb Garden: Incorporate a mix of basil, rosemary, and oregano for a fresh, herbaceous taste.
  • Spicy Twist: Include a dash of cayenne pepper or sliced jalapeños for those who favor a spicy kick.
  • Sweet and Savory: Introduce thinly sliced apples between the potato layers for a sweet contrast.
  • Vegan Version: Substitute the butter with olive oil and skip the cheese, or use a plant-based alternative.
