Ingredients

  • 250 g pasta penne or fettuccine
  • 300 g shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup sun-dried tomatoes chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes optional
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta

  • Boil water in a large pot. Add salt and pasta. Cook until al dente. Stir sometimes to avoid sticking. Save half a cup of pasta water. Drain the rest and set aside.

Prepare the Shrimp

  • Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper. This helps the shrimp cook evenly. Dry shrimp also get a better light golden color when cooked.

Cook the Shrimp

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes per side. Do not overcook. Remove shrimp and set aside once they turn pink.

Make the Garlic Base

  • In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Add minced garlic. Cook for about one minute. Stir gently so it does not burn. The smell will become rich and inviting.

Add Sun-Dried Tomatoes

  • Add chopped sun-dried tomatoes to the pan. Stir well with garlic. Let them cook for two minutes. This releases their deep, slightly tangy flavor into the base.

Create the Creamy Sauce

  • Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir slowly. Let it simmer on low heat. Add Italian seasoning and chili flakes. The sauce will start to thicken and smell amazing.

Add Cheese and Combine

  • Add grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until melted and smooth. If the sauce feels thick, add a little pasta water. This makes it silky and perfect.

Bring Everything Together

  • Add cooked pasta and shrimp into the sauce. Toss gently until everything is coated well. Let it cook for another two minutes so flavors blend nicely.

Garnish and Serve

  • Turn off heat. Add fresh basil on top. Serve warm with extra Parmesan if you like. Enjoy your homemade Marry Me Shrimp Pasta Recipe.
