Ingredients

  • 1 large egg

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This prevents sticking and ensures even baking.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk gently to blend everything well.

Cut in the Butter

  • Add cold butter pieces. Use a pastry cutter or fork. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Combine Wet Ingredients

  • In a small bowl, whisk together cream, egg, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

Make the Dough

  • Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Mix gently with a spatula. Dough should just come together. Don’t overmix.

Shape the Scones

  • Turn dough onto a floured surface. Pat into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into 8 wedges with a knife or scone cutter.

Add Sugar Topping

  • Place scones on the baking sheet. Sprinkle coarse sugar on top. This makes them golden and crunchy.

Bake the Scones

  • Bake for 18–20 minutes until golden brown. Scones should feel firm but soft inside.

Cool Before Serving
