Ingredients

  • 500 g potatoes peeled and sliced thin
  • 400 g cooked chicken shredded or cubed
  • 200 g soft melting cheese Reblochon or Brie
  • 150 ml double cream
  • 1 medium onion finely sliced
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease your ovenproof dish with butter. This stops the tartiflette from sticking.

Cook the Potatoes

  • Boil the potato slices in salted water for 5–7 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly. They need to be tender but firm.

Sauté the Onion and Garlic

  • Melt butter in a pan. Add onion and garlic. Cook until soft and fragrant. This adds a sweet, savory base for your tartiflette.

Layer the Potatoes

  • Place a layer of potatoes in the dish. Season lightly with salt and pepper. This layer forms the foundation of your tartiflette.

Add the Chicken

  • Scatter shredded chicken evenly over the potatoes. It makes the dish hearty and protein-rich.

Add Onions and Garlic

  • Spread the cooked onions and garlic over the chicken. This ensures every bite is flavorful and creamy.

Pour Cream

  • Pour the double cream evenly on top. This keeps the tartiflette rich and melts the cheese beautifully.

Add Cheese

  • Slice or crumble your cheese. Place it on top of the cream layer. Don’t be shy—it’s the star of the dish!

Bake

  • Place the dish in the oven. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbling.

Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle fresh parsley on top. Serve hot, with a side salad or crusty bread. Enjoy your cozy meal!

Notes

  • Use Reblochon for authentic French taste; Brie is a good substitute.
  • Add smoked bacon for extra flavor.
  • Use sweet potatoes for a twist.
  • Make it vegetarian with mushrooms instead of chicken.
  • Layer gently; do not mash the potatoes.
