  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot.
  • Add chopped onion. Cook until soft.
  • Add ground beef. Brown it fully.
  • Stir in minced garlic. Cook briefly.
  • Drain excess fat carefully.
  • Add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  • Stir in tomato paste thoroughly.
  • Add salt and black pepper.
  • Mix in basil and oregano.
  • Add sugar and red pepper flakes.
  • Reduce heat to low.
  • Simmer uncovered for one hour.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Add fresh parsley before serving.
