Ingredients

  • 4 pounds corned beef brisket with spice packet
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves smashed
  • 3 carrots peeled and cut large
  • 4 potatoes peeled and cut large
  • 1 small cabbage cut into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Instructions

Prepare the Beef

  • Take the corned beef out of the package. Rinse it gently under cold water. Pat it dry with paper towel. This removes extra salt and helps balance the flavor.

Build the Flavor Base

  • Place onion slices, garlic, bay leaves, and black pepper into a large pot. Add brown sugar and butter. These simple ingredients create a rich cooking broth full of warm flavor.

Add the Corned Beef

  • Set the corned beef into the pot. Sprinkle the spice packet over the top. Pour in water until the meat is covered well. This keeps the beef moist while cooking.

Slow Cook Gently

  • Cover the pot with a lid. Cook on very low heat for about 3 hours. Slow cooking makes the meat soft, tender, and full of deep beef flavor.

Add the Vegetables

  • Add potatoes and carrots around the meat. Let them cook for 30 minutes. Then add cabbage wedges. Cook another 20 minutes until everything is tender and flavorful.

Rest and Slice

  • Lift the beef from the pot carefully. Cover loosely with foil and rest 10 minutes. Slice against the grain. This makes every piece soft, juicy, and perfect.

Serve Warm

  • Place sliced beef on a platter. Arrange vegetables around it. Spoon a little broth over everything. Finish with chopped parsley for fresh color and taste.
