Ingredients

  • Ground beef – 1 pound
  • Bacon – 8 slices chopped
  • Onion – 1 medium chopped
  • Garlic – 3 cloves minced
  • Pork and beans – 2 cans 15 ounces each
  • Kidney beans – 1 can 15 ounces, drained
  • Pinto beans – 1 can 15 ounces, drained
  • Barbecue sauce – 1 cup
  • Ketchup – 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar – 1/3 cup
  • Yellow mustard – 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili powder – 1 teaspoon

Instructions

Cook the Bacon

  • Place chopped bacon in a hot skillet. Cook until crispy and golden. Remove bacon and keep aside. Leave a little bacon fat in the pan for flavor.

Brown the Beef

  • Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until nicely browned. Break it into small pieces while cooking. Drain extra fat if needed for a cleaner taste.

Add Onion and Garlic

  • Mix chopped onion into the beef. Cook until soft and sweet. Add minced garlic and stir for one minute. Your kitchen will smell warm and wonderful.

Mix the Sauce

  • In a large bowl, add barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well until smooth. This sauce makes the beans rich and tasty.

Add the Beans

  • Pour pork and beans, kidney beans, and pinto beans into the bowl. Add cooked bacon too. Gently stir everything so the beans stay whole.

Combine Everything

  • Add cooked beef mixture into the beans. Season with salt, pepper, and chili powder. Stir slowly until all ingredients are coated with the delicious sauce.

Bake Until Bubbling

  • Pour everything into a baking dish. Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes. The sauce thickens nicely and the top gets rich and glossy.

Serve Warm

  • Take it out carefully. Let it rest for five minutes. Serve warm and enjoy every smoky, sweet, hearty spoonful with family and friends.

Notes

  • Use smoked sausage for extra flavor
  • Add jalapeños for heat
  • Try black beans for variety
  • Add maple syrup for sweetness
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese
  • Cook in a slow cooker for easy serving
  • Use turkey instead of beef for lighter beans
