Ingredients

For the Meat Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 can black beans drained
  • 1 cup corn kernels

For the Layers

  • 3 cups crushed tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro

Instructions

Cook the Beef

  • Heat a skillet on medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until beef turns brown. Add garlic and cook one more minute. Drain extra fat before seasoning.

Add Flavor

  • Mix taco seasoning and water into the beef. Stir well. Add salsa, black beans, and corn. Let everything cook for five minutes until thick and rich.

Prepare the Baking Dish

  • Grease your baking dish lightly. Spread crushed tortilla chips on the bottom. This makes a tasty crunchy layer that holds all the taco filling beautifully.

Add the Meat Layer

  • Spoon half of the beef mixture over the chips. Spread evenly so every serving gets flavor. Add a spoonful of sour cream across the top.

Add Cheese

  • Sprinkle cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the meat layer. Cheese melts into the filling and makes every bite creamy, rich, and delicious.

Repeat the Layers

  • Add more crushed chips, the rest of the beef filling, more sour cream, and the remaining cheese. Top with diced tomatoes for fresh flavor.

Bake Until Golden

  • Bake at 375°F for about 25 minutes. The cheese should melt fully and bubble around the edges. The top should look golden and beautiful.

Finish and Serve

  • Remove from the oven carefully. Sprinkle green onions and cilantro on top. Let it rest five minutes before serving so slices hold together nicely.

Notes

  • Use ground chicken instead of beef for lighter flavor.
  • Add jalapeños for extra heat.
  • Mix cream cheese into the filling for richness.
  • Try pepper jack cheese for spice.
  • Add olives for taco pizza flavor.
  • Top with avocado slices before serving.
  • Use homemade taco seasoning for fresh taste.
