  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Wooden spoon
  • Polvoron molds
  • Wax paper

Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour toasted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup ube halaya purple yam jam
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Toast the Flour: In a skillet over medium heat, toast the flour until light brown, stirring continuously to prevent burning. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the toasted flour, powdered milk, and sugar. Mix well to distribute ingredients evenly.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in the melted butter and ube halaya until the mixture is well combined and holds together when pressed.
  • Mold the Polvoron: Fill a Polvoron mold with the mixture, press firmly to compact the ingredients. Carefully release the Polvoron onto a piece of wax paper.
  • Cool and Wrap: Allow the molded Polvoron to cool and harden for about 30 minutes. Wrap each piece in wax paper for storage.

Notes

  1. Ensure the flour is evenly toasted to a golden brown to avoid a raw taste.
  2. Use high-quality ube halaya for a rich and authentic flavor.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the molds to prevent crumbling when unmolding.
  4. Preserve freshness by storing in a cool, dry environment.
  5. Experiment with the amount of butter to adjust the firmness of your Polvoron.
